The Comfort-Aire® BHD-301 30 pint home dehumidifier comes from the family of the most reliable, low-end priced dehumidifiers we carry. The BHD-301 is part of a new line of feature-packed dehumidifiers with a new modern cabinet design, top mounted electro-mechanical humidity control with an easy slide-out, reusable air filter, and a new auto restart feature after power outages. This is not a low temperature dehumidifier. If you are looking for a low temperature basement dehumidifier with digital display and touchpad controls, we recommend the Comfort-Aire® 50 and 65 pint low temperature dehumidifiers that operate down to 42°F.

- Easy access top-mounted controls: has mechanical controls with a dial to adjust for more or less humidity
- Adjustable humidity control with internal humidistat: cycles unit on and off to maintain selected level of dryness
- 2 speed fan: Choose from high or low dehumidification with the flip of a switch
- Slide-out, washable filter: Air filters are washable and reusable; pull water bucket out of unit, and pull filter tab down to remove and clean
- Automatic restart feature: when power goes out, the dehumidifiers will automatically restart themselves at their original settings when power turns back on
- Air discharge from back of dehumidifier: so dehumidifier should be either placed sideways against a wall or kept a foot away from the wall if forward facing
- Lower noise level: noise level is comparable to a quiet residential air conditioner

We are excited about these new BHD-301 dehumidifiers and recommend them for people who need reliable, straight forward humidity control in areas down to 65°F without fancy digital touchpad controls or humidity and temperature display. BHD-301 models also offer useful features plus extras not found on all lower end dehumidifiers such as front loading buckets and washable air filters. For cooler environments or for those who prefer digital display and controls, we recommend the Comfort-Aire® 50 and 65 pint low temperature dehumidifiers that operate down to 42°F. To insure your purchase arrives in excellent condition we have added foam inserts and an outer box to the packaging.
Pluses:
- Auto restart useful through power outages: Particularly useful for those away from home often or vacation homes, because the units will automatically re-start themselves at the original settings once the power is restored
- "Set and forget" humidity control: internal humidistat maintains humidity level in a room to desired setting by cycling dehumidifier on and off as needed
- Easy access, large front loading bucket: water removal buckets hold 22 pints, and are more convenient in front; easy grip handle is on bucket for emptying water; we found it easier to empty the bucket pulling gently from sides rather than from the slot provided underneath the bucket
- Water bucket will not overflow: "automatic full shutoff" feature turns dehumidifier off when bucket is full
- Very quiet: Good for bedroom usage; unit noise is comparable to a quiet residential air conditioning unit, and the unit on low is quieter than ac unit on low, and same for all speeds
- 2 water drainage options included: Either use the bucket or the direct gravity drain for continuous drainage (condensate pump sold below as 3rd option)
- Excellent, easy to use drain hose connection: An excellent connection is included with these dehumidifiers; simply connect a garden hose to the included drain pipe that extends to the rear left of the dehumidifier and never worry about emptying the bucket (for gravity based drainage)
- Portable: dehumidifiers roll easily on 4 casters, and can be lifted using the sturdy built-in hand grips
- Durable construction: Top and sides are fabricated of a sturdy metal
- Quick dehumidification: Thanks to very strong airflow
- Removable bucket lid: Can be removed separately for cleaning to prevent possible collection of mold underneath lid
Minuses:
- Not a low temp dehumidifier, however it does have auto defrost control, and the unit will shut off when conditions are too cold for it to run
- Air filter is above the bucket which is not super convenient for cleaning, as one needs to pull out the bucket first, then pull filter down and out; there is a piece of packing tape holding the air filter on all models; easier to pull down filter with two hands
- Included continuous drainage tube can be awkward to insert into the continuous drainage hole; slot on the tube does not have to be in place for the drain connection to work properly; gently pushing the tab into its slot with a screwdriver should help
- this model will have to be either placed sideways against a wall or front facing allowing 12" of space all around the unit for the manufacturer's specified operation
Summary:
With built-in humidity controls for moisture removal and easy to remove washable air filters, these dehumidifiers are very reliable and consumer friendly. Dehumidifiers come with a drain hose option so you'll never have to empty the water bucket. If you choose to use the bucket, it is easily emptied from the front of the unit with an easy to carry handle. If you need to pump the water out above the level of the bucket, consider the condensate pump sold below as well which is compatible with these dehumidifiers.
